Colorado Toffee
Frequently Asked Questions:
How does your toffee have such a perfect texture?
We have spent lots of work and time perfecting the perfect toffee texture, with precise blends of ingredients and careful artisanal techniques ensure our toffee has a satisfying crunch without threatening to break your teeth
How many does 1 pound of toffee or brittle feed?
We generally tell people that one pound of candy can feed from 1 person to 8 people, but we tend to see the toffee get eaten faster than we think haha so a safe bet is closer to 1-4 people
How long will my order take to get to me?
Almost all of our candy is made to order. This means that after you order we make, cool, pack, and ship your order. This process usually takes 1 - 2 days after which you’ll receive an email with a package tracking number.
How long does the toffee last?
Our toffee is shelf stable, with that being said we highly encourage you to store your toffee in the fridge or freezer to retain freshness. If toffee sits out on the counter for really any time at all the sugar in the toffee will pull water out of the air (pure sugar is extreemly Hygroscopic meaning it attracts water) and become soft and gooey
Whats the best way to store toffee?
The best way to store your toffee is in the fridge or freezer. The toffee will keep for a few days on the counter, a few weeks in the fridge, and a month or so in the freezer. If toffee sits out on the counter for really any time at all the sugar in the toffee will pull water out of the air (pure sugar is extreemly Hygroscopic meaning it attracts water) and become soft and gooey
What Chocolate Do you use?
The chocolate in our Classic Chocolate Almond Toffee, Spicy Chocolate Almond Toffee, and Salted Chocolate Almond Toffee is Hersheys special dark mildly sweet chocolate. Our Milk Chocolate Almond Toffee uses Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips.
What is Toffee?
Toffee is a classic crunchy candy made from sugar and butter. It is normally cooked with nuts (almonds specifically) and coated in chocolate. No one is quite sure where toffee truly comes from but in america we generally call it "English Style" toffee (even though its almost certainly not from England). Due to the high heat that toffee is cooked to, it develops a deep caramelized flavor and richness.
What is Butterscotch?
Butterscotch is a very old candy that can be made a million different ways. Unlike the artificially flavored hard candies you can find in the supermarket isle we cook our butterscotch soft and chewy.
What is Brittle?
Brittle is a vague term that usually means a hard candy with nuts in it. Normally brittle is cooked with no butter at all. This gives brittle a harder and more brittle (hence the name) glass like texture. We think this is the wrong way to cook brittle, we include plenty of butter in our recipe to give our brittles an unmatched richness and depth.
